Quynh

Name: Quynh

Gender: Female

Location: Vietnam

Success Story:

Quynh struggled to help her sick mother. This became her life over the next 15 years. Her mother lost the capacity to walk, even after we bought a wheelchair.. Quynh took on a carer’s role in cleaning, cooking and still trying to attend the village school. She was intelligent. As we gained sponsors for her, the development was very evident. In time, she went through school and into university. Her support continued a real blessing. Sadly, her mother’s health declined. We arranged tests and treatment. It bought time but did not save her. Quynh graduated and worked from home online to support them both. We shared her story with the New World Saigon Hotel and the then-manager David Wicker. Together we raised funds to rebuild their sad home. Her toilet.. a hole under the bed.. her warmth.. a fire under her bed.. her kitchen.. well there was none. Her shower.. a leaking tap with a hose. We kept the slab and outer walls, and built within a modern well equipped home, with all amenities. For the last several years of her life, Quynh’s mum was happy, comfortable, and able to enjoy some dignity. Her passing was a tragedy still being overcome. Quynh still works from home. The engineering degree she gained cannot be used in the local precinct. We maintain contact and encourage her in her new life. It is all too common in Vietnam. Over the years we have tried to monitor the progress of those we assist, and regularly are able to support or assist in ongoing needs or situations.  When they feel totally alone, we try to be there for them and ensure they are not alone.
